Foxconn expanding India presence

Taiwanese based Apple supplier Foxconn is looking to expand its presence in India, seeking to cooperate with public and private entities in new areas like microchips and Electric Vehicles (EVs). This comes on the back of a visit to India by Foxconn Chairman Liu Young-way, and the Taiwanese major confirming plans to establish a manufacturing facility in
Telangana as it looks to shift production away from China after the country’s strict COVID-19 restrictions disrupted the manufacturing of new-model iPhones and other devices. Mounting tensions between Beijing and Washington are thought to be another factor
for this transition.
Telangana Industries minister K.T. Rama Rao said that the company has committed to Telangana its investment and other details would be shared soon. The minister said Telangana looked forward to a long-term association with Foxconn and hoped the company would do what it did in China and make Hyderabad the Shenzhen of India.
